This past Saturday, Zahra and I hosted a special
surprise for everyone at the office – PANCAKES! Mmmmm J
We wanted to treat everyone and thought what
better than a Canadian special: Panakes with maple syrup? This proved to be
both a simple task and a complicated one. Pancakes aren’t hard to make, however
we don’t have any baking supplies in our kitchen and groceries stores carry
different items in India compared to Canada. It took us a while to find baking
powder and we had to travel a bit further to get to “The Big Spencers” with an
International Foods section where we found pancake syrup. We made sure to do a
trial run at home because our measurements were all very rough estimates. But when
all was said and done, the pancakes were pretty darn tasty and we had a blast
making them in the office kitchen while listening to Christmas music.
We also presented our second surprise, a
surprise project that we have worked on for the past couple of weeks during our
Bengali lessons. A lot of translation and practiced pronunciation took place to
be able to deliver a slide show about ourselves, a slideshow about Canada, a poem,
and a song all in Bengali!
Ami khoob, khoob kushi (that is, I am very,
very happy) with how the day went. We made everyone cry which was pretty great J Here are some pictures from the
weekend!
